Q&A: i have insomnia, is there anyone who can help me overcome it?

Question by : i have insomnia, is there anyone who can help me overcome it?
i am not like diagnosed with insomnia by a doctor or whatever. insomnia is just a habitual inability to sleep. i dread sleep because of things like nightmares. or even bugs coming and getting close to me in the night. i have the worst nightmares though, not just some kiddy nightmares but really scary freddy vs jason type nightmares that usually involve murder. and sometimes my nightmares actually involve freddy krueger and i get very scared its all real and he will kill me in my sleep. i used to be able to control my dreams but now i try and cant. its gotten worse now that my stepmom doesnt let me keep my cat in my room at night. and its not even a ill just go get her type thing. we have 2 cats and they fight and one was abused by another owner as a kitten so i had her in my room, with food and a small litter pan. my allergies were always bad in the morning but now my stepmom is claiming its the cat that is doing this to me although it is not and the cat was sick a few days ago and stayed in their room, but now although shes better she still stays with them. and you do not know how much easier it is to have a live animal who you can snuggle with and talk to to sleep with. i just want some help. i want to sleep and stop stalling sleep like i am now. i just have a hard time and when i do get to sleep its not for long and i am very tired in the day time.

Drink warm milk before going to bed. Have dinner at least 2 hours before you sleep. Listen to relaxing music while you lie in bed. Have some light exercise at least 3 hours before going to bed. Avoid watching TV or going on the computer 1 hour before bed.

Get some sleeping pills at a pharmacy. They’ll help you go to sleep. To help you actually sleep you need to ask a doctor and he/she will give you a possible prescription. Those pills actually put you to sleep.

I’m sorry to hear about your insomnia- I used to deal with the same thing and I’m only fourteen. Anyways, there are good prescriptions at your pharmacy that really do help you sleep or there’s this weird thing that actually does work, if you put some lavender scent on your pillow if helps you sleep faster. Really, just make sure you don’t eat anything within two hours of goin to sleep and avoid caffeine after 6:00 . I hope this helps :)

While they are not insomnia medication options in the strictest sense, there are some other options out there. Herbal medicine, warm milk, aromatherapy and other options can work as well or better than insomnia medication for some people. These alternatives are worth looking into, especially for those who have had trouble with other insomnia medication options in the past.
